This destination wedding in Istria tells the story of Mia and Ivan, a couple living in Vienna who both have Croatian roots. They chose Istria for their wedding as a meaningful return to Mia’s home region — “back to the roots,” as they described it. With guests traveling from different parts of the world, they wanted to showcase the authentic beauty, culture, and hospitality of Istria.

The wedding celebration began with a relaxed welcome drink near the old, famous smokva (fig tree) in the park area. Guests enjoyed local Istrian delicacies, including traditional prosciutto, artisanal cheeses, homemade rakija, and refreshing aperitifs, accompanied by an acoustic duo playing well-known Croatian songs, setting a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The ceremony itself was heartfelt and beautifully styled in an earthy, traditional way. Decorated with old ceramic vases, Istrian vinova loza, and olive branches, the ceremony blended seamlessly with the natural surroundings. As the couple exchanged vows, the view opened all the way to the Adriatic Sea, creating a truly emotional and unforgettable Istria wedding ceremony.

As the sun set, the celebration continued under string lights and an open sky filled with stars. The party lasted well into the night, with music, dancing, and joyful moments shared beneath the Istrian sky — a magical ending to a perfect wedding day in Istria.

Each guest received a personalized thank-you note, the couple prepared a country-style dance set, and a cozy whiskey and cigar corner was created for evening enjoyment.
